Pakistan- Army chief to brief senators on security situation on Tuesday


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 18 December: Chief of the Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa will brief the Senate's Committee of the whole house on security situation on Tuesday, an announcement made by the Senate Secretariat issued here Monday, said.

According to the announcement, Gen Bajwa will brief the whole House, to be converted into a House committee, during an in-camera session at 10 am about the emerging national security paradigm for Pakistan with respect to recent developments.

Chairman Senate, Mian Raza Rabbani, Leader of the House Raja Zafarul Haq, Leader of the Opposition, Aitzaz Ahsan, members of the Senate and Minister for Defence Khurram Dastagir Khan will attend the meeting. Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza will accompany the army chief.

The members of the Senate on Friday wanted to know the terms of reference (ToRs) of the Saudi-led Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) that met in Riyadh recently.

The senators on both sides of the aisle, had questioned the ToRs of the coalition and criticized the government for not placing them before the parliament.
