(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – The 23-year-old Sherine Hossni of was crowned World 2017 on Saturday night in Egypt.
The young woman is a student from Tafraout, a city in the Tiznit province. Sherine clinched the beauty pageant title after competing with 16 other contestants from around the Arab world.
The jury committee of the competition was made up of Hanane Nasr, the Egyptian founder of the pageant, Moroccan artists Abdelali El Ghaoui and Nezha Chaaboui, Moroccan actress Amal Benzakour, Egyptian artist Mohammed Nour, Kuwaiti TV presenter Halimeh Boland, and representatives of the Department of Culture of the Egyptian Embassy in Italy.
The Algerian Rania bin Ashoush and the Bahraini Fawzya Abdul Ridha were named first and second runners-up respectively. Third and fourth runners-up were the Emirati Fateem Al Shamsi and the Sudanese Gofrane Ismael.
Sherine was selected as 2018 World-Morocco on November 22 in . The beauty competition saw the participation of candidates from Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, , Ouarzazate, , Kenitra, Tetouan, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, Tafraout and Nador. There were also three Moroccan candidates from abroad, who came from Belgium, France and Spain.
The choice of the city of Ouarzazate for the final selection of Miss Arab World Morocco 2018 was motivated by the beauty of the southern Moroccan city and its international influence, according to a statement by the organizers.
The competition took place from November 21 to 22 in order to select Miss Arab World Maroc 2018 that will represent Morocco during the 11 edition of Miss Arab World, which took place on December 16 in Cairo.
