Qatar celebrates nat'l day on Dec 18


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Dec 17 (KUNA) -- Qatar will mark on December 18 its national day with various celebrations and events dedicated to this monumental event.

The nation will be remembering the state's founder Sheikh Jassem bin Mohammad bin Thani who managed in 1878 to continue the process of uniting the country under one banner.

In the modern age, the leadership of Qatar took various steps to push the wheels of development, setting the 2030 vision as another milestone for the country to achieve.

The Qatari government began its 2017-2022 phase of the grand development plan with several achievements recorded within various sectors.

The most important achievements were the inclusion of four women in the 28-Shura council back in November, the establishment of the TOTAL-Qatari government owned North Oil Company, the shift from an oil-based economy to alternative energy resources, the hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and the inauguration of various facilities aimed at promoting culture, heritage, and healthcare.
