UAE- 2 children killed, 4 injured in horrific UAQ road crash

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Two boys - aged 5 and 10 - were killed after the car they were travelling in rammed into a trailer in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain.

The accident took place on the Emirates Road in the direction of the emirate of Sharjahon Tuesdaymorning, according to a top police officer.

Col Hassan Ali Bin Sarm, director of the UAQ civil defence department, said that four other passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries in the collision, involving a white saloon car with Ajman number plate and a long trailer.

On being alerted about the accident, the central operations room of the UAQ Police dispatched traffic police, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site immediately.

"We got information that six people were stuck in a two-car road collision on the Emirates Road (ex-Bypass road) in the direction of Sharjah."

The teams rushed to the site, and used a sophisticated hydraulic device to retrieve the trapped passengers, he added.

"Unfortunately, two children could not make it and died on the spot due to the terrible impact of the collision, while four others received several minor to moderate injuries."

The bodies were shifted to the morgue of a hospital, while the injured were rushed there for treatment and medical care.

Col Bin Sarm urged all drivers to be more careful when driving on highways. "All drivers need to strictly observe traffic rules and regulations, mainly speed limit, fasten seat belts, and leave enough safety space."

"The public is urged to immediately report any such accidents to toll-free number 999 0r 997," he said.

A few days back, a 28-year-old Emirati woman and her three-year-old daughter sustained injuries after the SUV they were travelling in overturned in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain.
