'QND a ceremony for people to express support with leadership'

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Chamber (QC) chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed al-Thani has said that celebrating Qatar National Day (QND) on December 18 of each year is a national ceremony where Qatari people express their support and solidarity with their wise leadership. 'The day also is a chance to remember the founding of the State by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.
The QC chairman expressed his congratulations to His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani, and Qatari people on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion of National Day celebrations, he said that choosing ‘Promise of Prosperity and Glory' as this year's motto was a good one as its one of the quotes of His Highness the Emir.
The QC chairman said that the celebration will take place in unprecedented circumstances this year given the unfair siege Qatar is subjected to by three countries who targeted the sovereignty of Qatar.
He noted in that regard that the country refused to surrender and noted that the Chamber for its part supported the Qatari private sector in carrying out its role in preventing the siege from having a meaningful impact on society.
He noted that the wise leadership dealt confidently with the siege and managed to guide Qatar to safety. 'This was clear from day one when all designated authorities worked calmly to prevent the siege from having negative humanitarian impacts as it managed to absorb the shock quickly. That speed of action helped find alternatives that did not disrupt the life of citizens and expats, he added.
He said that Qatar managed to limit the impact of the siege, benefiting from its international ties and economic capabilities to find new aerial and maritime routes with a number of countries including Oman, Kuwait, Turkey, India, and Pakistan among others.
The QC chairman stressed that the Qatari economy surprised everyone with its strength as Qatar's exports of oil and gas continued uninterrupted. 'The country also managed to make new inroads in trade and opened new markets, in addition to intensified efforts to achieve a high level of self-sufficiency economically. (QNA)
