Turkish jets hit PKK targets in northern Iraq

The Turkish Air Force attacked the positions of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists in northern Iraq, the Turkish General Staff said in a message Dec. 14.

According to the message, air operations were held in Khakurk, zap and Avashin region in northern Iraq.

During the operations, PKK strongholds were destroyed and 5 terrorists were killed.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for more than 30 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.

The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
