(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Dec 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim departed the country on Wednesday en route to the Moroccan capital Rabat to attend an extraordinary summit over Jerusalem involving chief lawmakers from across the Arab region.

Al-Ghanim, who is heading the Kuwaiti delegation to the meeting, was seen off at the airport by a number of officials including deputy parliament speaker Essa Al-Kandari and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Adel Al-Kharafi, among others.

Kuwait's chief lawmaker is set to deliver a speech during the summit on Thursday, in which he will address US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which sparked outrage in the wider Arab region.

Al-Ghanim is joined by MPs Rakan Al-Nesf, Khalil Abul, Omar Al-Tabtabie and Al-Humaidi Al-Subaie. (end) fn.nam
