AMMAN, Dec 13 (KUNA) -- In a quest to spread knowledge and wisdom amongst the populace, a Jordanian youth decided to take the innovative route, transforming his vintage vehicle to a mobile store to sell books.
In 2016, Ghaith Bahdosha, 27, began the (books on wheels) project, driving his 1974 Mercedes through various spots and neighborhoods in Amman and stopping here and there to sell books.
Bahdosha's dream is to open a legitimate bookstore in Madaba governorate southwest of the capital.
Speaking to KUNA, Bahdosha said that his passion for books was the main drive behind this project.
Embarking on this project was not an easy step, said the Jordanian youth who indicated that the lack of capital had led him to start this ambitious plan, which unlike regular bookstores, offers a bit of an adventure and excitement.
Bahdosha indicated that he took special care in decorating his vehicle with books and revealed that placing books on the hood of the car in artistic way had helped to attract customers.
The books, used and new, have nominal prices to get people to read and they vary from around half a Jordanian dinar to ten, he said.
Bahdohsa revealed that with the steady monthly income, he managed to open a humble store as extension to his main books on wheels' project.
The project had been received positively by intellectuals in addition to a number of local and international bodies, said Bahdosha who hoped that books would return to their rightful place as a source of knowledge and wisdom for people. (end) mjb.gta
