Jordan- King holds talks with Saudi Monarch, crown prince


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Riyadh, Dec 12 (Petra) –– His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday held talks in Riyadh with Saudi Arabia's King Salman Bin Abdulaziz on Jerusalem and the grave repercussions of the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and move its embassy to the city.

During the talks, which were attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein and top officials on both sides, the two leaders reviewed the issues of the region and the historically solid relations between the two kingdoms in all fields.

They also discussed the ramifications of the US decision on the region's security and stability and efforts to achieve regional peace, with King Abdullah reaffirming the need to coordinate the Arab position, pool efforts and communicate with the international community in this respect.

The talks underlined the need to maintain consultation and coordination between the two countries towards the various issues of common interest and "in a way to achieve the interests of the Arab nation and serve its just causes and promote global security and stability".

The leaders stressed the deep Jordanian-Saudi relations and the need to further enhance them to the highest levels, and the importance of building on signed agreements and memoranda of understanding in the various fields and sectors.

In this context, the Saudi monarch said that "Jordan's security is from Saudi Arabia's security, and that what is of interest to Jordan is in Saudi Arabia's interest and what harms Jordan harms Saudi Arabia as well".

The talks also dealt with the situation in Syria and Iraq and the crises the region is witnessing as well as efforts to find political solutions to them "in a manner to enable their peoples to live in peace and security".

King Abdullah also met, in the presence of Crown Prince Hussein, with Saudi Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, Mohammad Bin Salman, to discuss developments in the regional and international arenas, particularly issues related to Jerusalem. Emphasis was also laid on enhancing cooperation between the two countries in military, economic and security fields.
