(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Dec 11 (KUNA) -- EU Foreign Ministers welcomed Monday the hosting by Kuwait of the summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on 5 December.
"We welcomed the fact that the GCC meeting took place," EU High Representative Federica Mogherini told a news conference after the meeting of EU foreign ministers this afternoon.
"We expect more steps in the direction of re-finding in that format the way for the countries of the Gulf to cooperate among themselves and with others including the EU," she said.
She also praised the efforts by His Highness Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to safeguard GCC unity.
"We have always valued enormously the bilateral relations between the EU and the GCC as a forum and we have supported and continue to support the work, in particular of the Amir of Kuwait is carrying on to save and re-launch this format that we believe is essential for cooperation around the Gulf," she added.
