UAE- Maktoum bin Mohammed chairs Strategic Affairs Council meeting

DUBAI, 11th December, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, on Monday chaired the Strategic Affairs Council board meeting.

Attending the meeting were, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chief Executive of Emirates Group, and Second Deputy Chairman of the Strategic Affairs Council; Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality; Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority; Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Managing Director and CEO of DEWA; Sami Al Qamzi, Director-General of Dubai Economic Department; Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Finance, and Abdulla Al Basti, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council.

The Council reviewed the road safety strategy presented by the Roads and Transport Authority in cooperation with the Dubai Police GHQ, which detailed the main findings of the current situation analysis, proposed strategic initiatives and action plan, as well as performance indicators aimed at improving the traffic safety in the emirate.

The implementation of the strategy and its initiatives will positively impact the achievement of the objectives of the national agenda and the strategic goals of the Emirate of Dubai to be a city with the highest levels of safety and to promote happiness in the community by 2021.

Other agenda items included the review of driver licensing policies, by the RTA, and the study of supply and demand in real estate establishments by 2025 by the Dubai Land Department.

The General Secretariat of the Dubai Executive Council presented the Dubai Government's governance framework, whose principles are based on three pillars - Effective Government, Responsible Government, and Flexible Government.
