Egyptian, Russian summit tackles Jerusalem, regional conflicts

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Cairo, Dec 11 (Petra) –– Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Monday discussed developments related to the Palestinian issue in the aftermath of US President Donald Trump's decision recognising Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

In their summit, the leaders dealt with the repercussions of the US decision on regional peace and stability as well as the situation in Syria and Libya and ways to achieve political solutions in the war-torn countries.

They also agreed on enhancing the exchange of information between specialised agencies to counter terrorism.

Putin described his talks with Sissi, held at Al Ittihadiyeh Palace in Cairo, as "constructive".

He said in a joint press conference with the Egyptian leader that the two sides had defined joint working plans in the future, adding that the talks tackled the most pressing issues on the internal and regional agenda.
