Kuwait- His Highness the Amir patronizes event on Oman, region's history


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Dec 11 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah patronized Monday at Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center (JACC) the Sixth International conference on Oman's Relationship with the Countries of the Indian Ocean and the Gulf between the 17th and 19th centuries.

Representing His Highness the Amir at the event was Deputy Amiri Diwan Minister Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah. The event was attended by Sheikh Faisal Al-Saud Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, heads and members of various diplomatic missions in Kuwait, and other officials.

Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah delivered a speech in which he conveyed greetings from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah to the participants.

He affirmed that His Highness the Amir's patronizing of the conference reflected the Kuwaiti leadership's keenness on safeguarding and preserving the history of the region.

The Kuwaiti official lauded the Omani National Records Archives for their efforts in the conference, saying that they played an important part in preserving historical documents for the future generations.

Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah also lauded the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters (NCCAL) for co-hosting the conference, indicating that it would hopefully help those interested in the history of Oman and the region.

Learning from past and historical events will only contribute to the development of the future, affirmed Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah who wished the conference success in achieving its goals.

On his part, head of the Omani National Records Archives Hamad bin Mohammad Al-Thouyani thanked the Kuwaiti leadership and friends from the Gulf and Indian regions for taking part in the conference.

The highest authorities in Oman gave their blessing on holding the event in Kuwait which in fact reflects the strong relations linking the two Gulf countries, said the Omani official.

He indicated that the sixth international conference will be highlighting the contributions of Oman and other countries in the region to development of human civilization.

The regions, which the conference covers, are no less than other civilizations that contributed to history, affirmed Al-Thouyani who indicated that his country, in the past, had important relations with regional countries and beyond.

Looking into history will only lead to development and more progress and hopefully the current conference will achieve such goal, said the Omani official who thanked the top NCCAL officials and the Kuwaiti embassy in Omani for their contributions to the event.

After the speeches, the event concluded with the screening of a documentary film as well as a poetry reciting event. His Highness the Amir and his representative Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah were also honored.

Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah inaugurated an exhibition showcasing documents and historical manuscripts. (end) gta
