Top musicians all set to perform at Katara today


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation is organising a concert today as part of the ‘70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights' celebrations.
The event is being held in co-operation with the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights along with Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO).
The concert, taking place at Katara's Opera House at 8pm today, will include a performance by QPO featuring musicians such as Marcel Khalife, Nasser Sahim, Wael bin Ali and Dana Alfardan, Katara has said in a statement.
It also entails a short film by Qatar Foundation for Social Work on the services of Shafallah Centre in the field of integrating persons with disability into society.
The Cultural Village witnessed a number of events on Friday and yesterday as part of the celebrations, which conclude today. Folkloric performances took place at Katara's Amphitheatre, as part of the Cultural Diversity Festival, the audience enjoyed distinguished performances from Algeria, China and Macedonia.
Additionally, the Katara Fine Art Symposium saw the participation of 30 artists, including 12 Qataris.
The NHRC has participated with a number of activities, including drawing and colouring for children. Also, the committee is responsible for distributing books that contain reports on the unceasing efforts of Qatar in promoting human rights, and allotting gifts to the audience, the statement notes.
