(MENAFN)Five European countries expressed their disagreement with the US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,
saying it is "not in line" with UN Security Council resolutions and is "unhelpful."
In a joint statement issued after emergency Security Council talks on the issue, UN envoys from Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Sweden said the move was "unhelpful in terms of prospects for peace in the region."
from its side, Britain said on Friday that Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital is "unhelpful" and called on the United States to submit detailed proposals for peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
Thousands of Palestinians demonstrated in what they called "day of rage", scores were injured and at least one was killed encountering with Israeli troops, after the Trump's reversal of decades of US policy.
