Leyla Yunus never defended any citizen's rights and didn't play any role in the release of prisoners, Azerbaijani MP Chingiz Ganizade said during the presentation of the book titled 'Splendor and Misery of Leyla Yunus.'
'We have always believed that it would be wrong to try to solve issues related to prisoners with the help of someone abroad, since it is necessary to solve these issues within the country,' he said. 'The real goal of Leyla Yunus was to get rich using the image of a human rights activist and receiving grants for conducting anti-Azerbaijani activity.'
Ganizade added that Leyla Yunus wrote about an event without witnessing it, and earned money by selling this information abroad.
'For the sake of her own interests, this person has always put people in jeopardy,' the MP noted. 'Leyla Yunus under various names received grants from abroad.'
