Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa, from its deliberate design and conscientious construction, has exemplified environmental accountability and sustainability throughout the project's development and current operation. Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa obtained their LEED Silver status through incorporation of a highly reflective TPO roof which reduces the hotel's heat island effect, installation of low-flow plumbing fixtures throughout the hotel reducing water consumption by at least 35% compared to LEED baseline metrics. Additionally, the hotel's energy model design reduces energy costs over 28% compared to ASHRAE 90.1-2007 baseline. The hotel's construction is composed of 35% recycled material and 44% regionally sourced materials and received credit for incorporating public transportation access with the hotel's location in downtown Tuscaloosa.
