Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa Receives Silver LEED Certification

Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa, from its deliberate design and conscientious construction, has exemplified environmental accountability and sustainability throughout the project's development and current operation. Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa obtained their LEED Silver status through incorporation of a highly reflective TPO roof which reduces the hotel's heat island effect, installation of low-flow plumbing fixtures throughout the hotel reducing water consumption by at least 35% compared to LEED baseline metrics. Additionally, the hotel's energy model design reduces energy costs over 28% compared to ASHRAE 90.1-2007 baseline. The hotel's construction is composed of 35% recycled material and 44% regionally sourced materials and received credit for incorporating public transportation access with the hotel's location in downtown Tuscaloosa. Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa's LEED Silver recognition demonstrates the hotel's drive to exemplify sustainable development and reflects the hotel's mission to be environmentally conscious of the environment and our community.

Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa is a 91 key hotel in downtown Tuscaloosa, AL. Guests have access to a 24-hour fitness center and approximately 850 square feet of versatile meeting space, a business center and a 2,500 square foot outdoor terrace with breathtaking views of the Black Warrior River and the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. LEED is a rating system devised by the U.S. Green Building Council in 2003. It is considered to be the most influential one among all the evaluation standards of environmental building, green building and building sustainability, with six key criteria in sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovation and design process. The number of points a project earns determines the level of LEED certification achieved by the project.
