Emirates and Rotary Club implement joint Green Initiative


(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka : Emirates in partnership with Rotary club of Dilkusha, Bangladesh, held a joint tree plantation programme in Kolatoli Village of Keraniganj near recently. Over 1,000 wood and fruit saplings were planted and distributed.

The programme took place at Ahadipur Primary School and was attended by nearly 500 school children, teachers, guardians as well as members of the Rotary club and Emirates' senior executives in Bangladesh.

Speaking at a ceremony organised on the occasion, Khalid Ali J. Hassan , Emirates Area Manager in Bangladesh said: 'As the scale of Emirates' operations expands, we are now more conscious of our responsibility towards the environment and the communities we serve around the world. This is the second year we join hands with the Rotary to execute a successful initiative, which reinstates our commitment to both our environmental performance and the local communities in Bangladesh.'

Justice Sharif Uddin Chaklader, President, Rotary Club of Dilkusha in his speech said: 'We are happy to join hands with Emirates again this year. Through our association with a global brand like Emirates in Bangladesh, the Rotary Club can achieve a lot more for our community. I am confident our relationship will continue to grow and we will see more of these social projects going forward.'

Over the past few years, Emirates Foundation has been running the Emirates- Friendship floating hospital jointly with a local NGO – Friendship, to provide vital medical assistance to more than two million people living in communities isolated by the annual monsoon flooding in the most deprived region of Bangladesh.

The airline is the largest foreign operator to Bangladesh with 21 flights a week and via Dubai conveniently connects over 150 destinations in six continents.
