No change in Abu Dhabi airport baggage rules

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Abu Dhabi International Airport has rubbished a circular regarding a ban imposed on carton boxes and sacks from December 15.

From Wednesday morning, a circular, supposedly from the airport, went viral on social media.

The circular stated: "All airlines operating from Abu Dhabi International Airport are hereby informed that effective December 15, 2017, in line with the implementation of safety and security standards and procedures at Abu Dhabi International Airport, cartons and sacks are banned to ensure smooth operations for all airlines. This step is taken to improve customer service, fast check-in and to avoid break down of baggage belts during heavy loads while multiple flights are operating."

The wordings of the circular were dubious in nature but got shared widely on social media.

However, an Abu Dhabi International Airport official denied release of such a circular.

The airport said in a statement: "There has been a statement circulating in public domain stating that Abu Dhabi International Airport no longer allows carton boxes or sacks as luggage for travelling passengers. Abu Dhabi Airports confirms that this statement is false and not related to the company or any of its operating airports."

This March, Dubai Airports had made changes to baggage rules. However, Abu Dhabi Airport has assured passengers that for now there is no change to luggage policy.
