(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has invited young Emiratis to register for a programme to become the first batch of UAE's astronauts.
Sharing a tweet, Sheikh Mohammed says, "We invite our young men and women to enroll in the UAE Astronaut Programme through the Mohammad Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC). We will pick the most competent person to be UAE's space ambassadors. And I affirm that every young woman and man have a role to play in the future of the Emirates on its land and its skies and in the outer space."

- HH Sheikh Mohammed (@HHShkMohd) The most competitive applicants will be selected to be ambassadors for the UAE in space exploration. However, every single Emirati will contribute in his or her own way to the future of the UAE, whether it's on land, or in the skies.
- HH Sheikh Mohammed (@HHShkMohd) Any Emirati with a minimum age of 18 and a University Graduate bachelor's or higher degree can apply for the astronaut application program.
ASTRONAUT REQUIREMENTS Astronauts should be fit and in good health to ensure they are able to fly to space. This does not mean we are looking for Olympic athletes, but mobility and some strength is required. In addition, candidates should also be able to demonstrate that they have the personality to be able to work as part of a team, not only as a team member at MBRSC, but also alongside the astronauts on board the space station. Finally, they should be capable of carrying out the missions and experiments required while they are the UAE's representative in space.
