(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency)
Jeddah, Rabi'I 18, 1439 H., December 06, 2017, SPA -- The 6th Conference of Health Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) started in this Red Sea resort city of Jeddah.
At the outset of the conference titled "Health in all Policies", Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Saudi Minister of Health, affirmed that the conference's title, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, came at a response of the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines to make public health as a policy and priority in all systems and legislations in order to promote health and disease control and prevention.
Dr. Al-Rabiah stressed that integrating health into all policies has been successfully applied in many countries of the world.
He added that the health is a priority in the foreign policy and international relations, as there is a new trend among international and regional organizations and WHO, so-called "health diplomacy", to set health as a priority for foreign policy and international relations.
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia proposes that the OIC is to adopt "Health in all Policies" initiative within the strategic action program (2014-2023) for the OIC," Dr. Al-Rabiah added.
The 6th Conference of the OIC Health Ministers aims to discuss issues pertaining to the health field among the OIC member states.
It is noted that participants in the conference include delegations headed by health ministries from the OIC member states and regional and international observer organizations.
