Kuwait- Bid to smuggle hashish foiled
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 6: The Ministry of Interior (MoI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, has seized 110 kgs of cannabis when two citizens, in collusion with some Iranian people, were trying to muggle them into the country.
Information received from Defense Ministry's intelligence and security body suggested that there was a smuggling attempt of a large amount of hashish by two Kuwaiti citizens through the sea, MoI's Security Media and Public Relations Department said in a statement.
The General Directorate for Drug Control and the General Directorate of the Coast Guard followed up the movement of the suspects, it added. When they arrived at a slipway in Al-Fintas area, security apparatuses arrested them with 110 kilograms of hashish, it said, adding that they also arrested five Iranians who were on the boat carrying the cannabis, it noted. The statement said the suspects and the seized hashish were transferred to competent authorities. (KUNA)
