First bus assembly plant to be set up in Oman by Karwa


(MENAFN) Karwa Motors, a joint venture between Oman investment Fund and Qatari national transport company Mowasalat, has laid the cornerstone for the first bus assembly unit in the country in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm (Sezad), a report by Times of Oman said.

The company plans to roll out 1,000 buses every year when USD90 million phase one operations commence, the report said.

By the end of 2019, construction of the 220,000 sq-m-facility is expected to be completed, which is an effort that can grow to making Duqm a bus hub over long term; the report cited a senior official.
