Qatar- 972 Caloocan cops to be back on duty after retraining course

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Hundreds of Caloocan City policemen who were suspended in September have finished their retraining and will be back on duty next week, Metro Police chief Oscar Albayalde said yesterday.
Albayalde said 1,076 policemen were given the boot following the killing of Kian De Los Santos and Carl Angelo Arnaiz. However, only 972 policemen passed the retraining programme that included lectures, examinations, and other modules.
'By next week or within a week, there would be Caloocan policemen who would be back in service, Albayalde said after the graduation ceremony in Camp Crame.
Records showed that 104 policemen failed the retraining. Those who got grades from 51 to 69 will undergo another retraining programme.
The police officers who were involved in the killings of Delos Santos and Arnaiz were not included in the retraining and remain under restrictive custody.
Albayalde said human rights, value formation and spiritual enhancement were some of the topics that were given priority during the retraining programme. The policemen were also given refresher courses in law and jurisprudence.
'We did this training because it seems that there is a culture of (criminality)in the (Caloocan police) station, Albayalde said.
On September 15, Albayalde relieved the entire Caloocan City police force after a series of serious offences, including the killing of at least two teenagers.
Members of the Caloocan police were tagged in the killing of Kian, 17, on August 16 and 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz on August 18. The police claimed there were shootouts in both incidents.
