Date of commissioning of Turkey's biggest telescope announced
Turkey's first domestic telescope will be commissioned in 2020, the country's media reported on December4.
The project of the telescope's creation titled 'Eastern Anatolia Observatory (Dogu Anadolu Gozlemevi - DAG) is being implemented in conjunction with the Adaptif Optik Sistemi optical company, and will be commissioned at the Istanbul University.
The telescope will have seven times the resolution of the Hubble Space Telescope.
Installation of the telescope will end in late 2019.
The 17-meter DAG telescope will have the highest resolution in Europe.
The total cost of the project is $150 million.
