JEDDAH, 4th December, 2017 (WAM) -- The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, has said it was closely monitoring developments in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.
In a statement, the OIC expressed its support for the uprising of the Yemeni people and all that is in their interest and the achievement of their aspirations for unity, territorial integrity, stability and security.
The organisation welcomed the call for dialogue among the parties concerned with resolving the Yemeni crisis. It reiterated its steadfast position of support for the legitimate authority and for a resolution of the crisis through the Gulf initiative, its executive mechanisms and the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue in Yemen as well as the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, in particular Resolution 2216.
The OIC expressed the hope that Yemen will overcome the crisis through which it is passing and return to playing its pivotal role, completely divorced from any sectarian agenda and in the interests of the region and the whole Islamic nation.
