Organization of Islamic cooperation closely monitors developments in Yemen

Jeddah, Rabi'I 16, 1439, December 04, 2017, SPA -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation said it was closely monitoring developments in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.
In this regard, it affirmed its support for the uprising of the Yemeni people and all that is in their interest and the achievement of their aspirations for unity, territorial integrity, stability and security.
In this context, the OIC welcomed the call for dialogue among the parties concerned with resolving the Yemeni crisis and reiterated its steadfast position in supporting the legitimate authority and resolving the crisis through the Gulf initiative, its executive mechanisms and the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue in Yemen as well as relevant UN Security Council resolutions and in particular resolution 2216.
The organization expressed hope that Yemen will overcome the crisis it is going through, and return to playing its pivotal role completely away from the sectarian agenda, and in the interests of the region and the whole Islamic nation.
