Jordan- PM meets Brazilian Minister of Defense


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Dec. 3 (Petra) -- Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Hani Mulki, on Sunday, met with Brazilian Minister of Defense, Raul Jungmann, for a discussion on ways to boost bilateral cooperation between Jordan and Brazil, especially in defense and border security fields.

The meeting also tackled developments in the Middle East and efforts to combat terrorism.

The prime minister lauded Jordan-Brazil close ties and expressed keenness to strengthen them to serve the interests of both countries and peoples.

In the meeting, Mulki spoke about Jordan's efforts to combat terrorism within a holistic approach as well as efforts by the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) and security agencies to preserve the Kingdom's security, stability and borders from terrorist groups.

The Brazilian minister voiced his country's desire to further increase defense and military cooperation with Jordan and benefit from the Jordanian expertise in border control and protection.

He said he was looking forward to signing a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in defense fields.

He commended Jordan as "model for security and stability" in the region, noting that his country, a home to more than 10 million Arabs, supports the two-state solution for the Palestinian issue.
