UAE participates in human rights workshop in Cairo

CAIRO, 3rd December, 2017 (WAM) -- The UAE participated in the workshop held today at the Arab League. The workshop entailed discussions on how to prepare reports and follow up the implementation of international and regional human rights bodies' recommendations.

The UAE was represented by Brigadier General Mohammed Ali Al Shehhi, and Major Abdulrahman Jassim Al Tahiri from the Ministry of Interior, Nouf al-Mubarak and Fatima al-Muhairi from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Nadia Al Ali and Fatima Al Badawi from the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.

"This meeting is an indication of the Arab League's keenness to advance human rights in light of the increasing threats and challenges facing the Arab world," said Mohammed Juma Fzaie, Chairman of the Committee on Arab Human Rights, Charter Committee.

He emphasised the importance of expert participation in the workshop activities, which is the first cooperation in the history of the Arab Human Rights Committee. He went on to say that the Arab Human Rights Committee adopted in its strategic plan in 2014 the goal of enhancing cooperation with international and regional human rights bodies.
