Pakistan- NAB orders inquiry against KPHA, Irrigation, C&W depts' officials


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated inquiries against officials of Irrigation Department Charsadda, Communication and Works Kohat and Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority.

A statement issued here stated the inquiries were ordered during a meeting held here with Director General NAB KP in the chair.

The statement stated that managing director of Sheikh Yasim Town Mardan Chinar Gul, officials Ilyas, Hamza and Waliullah have allegedly taken Rs1.12 billion from people but did not allot them plots.

The money has allegedly been spent on construction of commercial plazas in Islamabad and Mardan.

The statement added that some officials of Revenue Department have allegedly transferred lands' ownership illegally. Executive Engineer of Communication and Works Kohat Muhammad Zubair is accused of using substandard material and recruitment in violation of rules and regulations, it said.

NAB has also ordered inquiry against official of Irrigation Department Charsadda for involvement in bribery, it said and added that KPHA's officials have misappropriated Rs40 million in funds meant for affected people of Swat Expressway.
