AL MUKALLA, 2nd December, 2017 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has distributed food assistance to people in Mukalla District of Yemeni Hadramaut Governorate as part of the UAE humanitarian programme to alleviate the suffering of families due to deteriorating conditions created by the Houthi coup.
Ahmed Al Neyadi, Deputy Head of the ERC team in Hadramaut, said the latest food assistance is aimed at improving the living conditions of these families as part of the UAE humanitarian and developmental efforts to fill the food gap in the country.
''The food gap has created difficult economic and humanitarian suffering and increased the rates of poverty and unemployment,'' he noted.
The ERC, he stated, would continue its relief, health, educational and services programmes in Hadramaut and other liberated governorates.
The beneficiaries thanked the UAE government and people as well as the ERC for the substantial efforts they are making to ease the suffering of the Yemeni people.
