Ukrainian citizen killed in Sri Lanka floods


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) More than 50 people have become victims of floods and landslides caused by powerful cyclones with heavy rains in the Indonesian island of Java and in Sri Lanka. A Ukrainian citizen is reported to be killed in floods in Sri Lanka.

"Cempaka cyclone caused significant destructions in the southern coast of the island of Java, where strong wind and floods damaged more than 1,700 houses. More than 2,000 local residents were evacuated from the region. Adverse weather conditions also caused considerable damage to the region's agriculture," DW reports.

A Ukrainian citizen is reported to be washed away in floods near the popular tourist town of Galle.
