Hundreds of music enthusiasts thronged 'Jingle All the Way, the annual festive concert of The Doha Singers choir, held on Thursday night at Shangri-La Hotel Doha Ballroom.
The 120-member choir along with professional musicians enthralled the crowd with their performance of a wide repertoire of traditional songs and carols in addition to songs from the famous animated film ‘Frozen.'
Under the direction of Claire Daniels, the concert featured Oksana Opanashchuk on piano, Lazar Halaijian (violin), Mike Pigneguy (drums), and Phil Wilkinson (guitar) and also included performances by the Acapella Group, solo and duet singers.
One of the highlights of the concert was when the chorus shared the stage with the children's choir of the International School of London Qatar who were guest performers of the night.
'For many of these children, this will be the first time they will have performed in front of such a large audience, and I am sure they will take home some fabulous memories, both in the coming weeks and in the years to come, said Chris Kenny, Chair of The Doha Singers.
Founded in 1993, the four-part amateur adult choir, with members from various nationalities and backgrounds, sings wide ranging selection of songs from traditional choir music to show tunes. It performs two major concert programmes each year including festive music concert in the winter and a themed programme in the springtime, in addition to informal and private events.
'We are very fortunate to have a blend of people in the choir, some of whom have professional background in music and some for whom music is merely an enjoyable hobby. This allows a blend of musical talents to produce a sound which is full of passion, enthusiasm, and vitality, said Kenny.
