Traditional Qatari dhow Fath Al Kheir began sailing to Oman last morning after a four-day stop in Kuwait. It is expected to reach the port of Ras Musandam in Oman in ten days.
Mohammed Yousef Al Sada, captain of the dhow, said that all the problems that the crew faced have been addressed and arrangements for the next leg of the journey have also been completed.
'The crew have overcome all the problems including the fluctuations in the weather with determination, patience and cooperation in all the work entrusted to them which gave the journey more meaning. The spirit of love and brotherhood and interdependence established during the voyage evoke the memory of our ancestors in their long journeys in the sea in their quest to earn a living, said Al Sada. He said that the third Fath Al Kheir voyage is a unique journey for him as a captain, since he had deepened his knowledge and experience of the sea after his experiences in Fath Al Kheir 1 to GCC and Fath Al Kheir 2 to India.
He said that this voyage is a valuable opportunity for Qatari youth to learn about the sea, noting that one of his tasks is to share with them his expertise in the field. The sailors lauded the warm welcome and reception they received from officials in Kuwait and the excellent coverage of the Kuwaiti media. They said that the journey has achieved its goals bringing the message of love, peace and brotherhood of the people of Qatar to the Kuwaiti people. The Kuwaiti officials expressed happiness in welcoming Fath Al Kheir sharing the same view that the journey is a clear demonstration of the common heritage and culture the brotherly countries share.
A group of Kuwaiti coastguards escorted Fath Al Kheir to its exit from the Kuwaiti waters, where they experienced feeling of brotherhood and gratitude raising the flags of Qatar and Kuwait.
Fath Al Kheir left Katara on November 17 during the seventh Katara Traditional Dhow Festival. It is expected to return to Katara on December 18 in time for Qatar National Day celebrations.
