(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Emirati duo, who embarked on 300-km walk from Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) to Abu Dhabi, reached the sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque on Wednesday.
The two RAK-based Emirati youths, Omar Ali Saleh Al Tunaiji (22) and Abdullah Rashid Mohammed Al Shehi (24), completed their journey to mark the 'Year of Zayed' and '46th National Day' over seven days.
Al Tunaiji told Khaleej Times: "Words cannot describe our feelings. It is an unforgettable moment during which all the pains and sufferings we have been through are gone."
Reiterating the same, Al Shehi said they were so determined to show their love, respect and loyalty to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the nation.
"What adds to our happiness is that our seven-day walk coincides with the nationwide celebrations of the 46th National Day."
People, be they Emirati nationals or residents, were so supporting and encouraging. "Some of them have even provided us with a doctor and medicine due to relieve the pains, cramps, and bruises we suffered from the long walk."
The late Sheikh Zayed spared no effort to make an advanced country of the UAE in all aspects of life. "All the safety, security, stability and prosperity we enjoy these days are due to his commitment and white hands."
Not only the start and end of the inspiring journey was celebrated by crowds of people, but also they were warmly supported in each and every town and city they passed by. The duo had earlier gone on a similar long walk to mark the 45th national day last year. They covered 100km between Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.
"The trips are the least thing we can do to show our love and respect to our beloved country and prudent leadership," they said.
