UAE- Emirati woman, daughter injured as car overturns in UAQ

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A 28-year-old Emirati woman and her three-year-old daughter sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in overturned in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain.

On being alerted of the collision, the central operations room of the UAQ Police immediately dispatched traffic police, ambulances, paramedics, firefighters, and rescue teams to the site.

Initial enactment of the accident indicated that the mother suddenly lost control over the steering wheel and the car veered off the Ittihad Road, informed sources with the civil defence department said.

"The white four-wheel-drive car overturned, skidded on one side, and rammed into a metal lamp post in the middle road island."

The impact of the accident has left the mother and her daughter injured, they added. "The car and lamp post were also damaged in the incident."

The firefighters, who reached the accident site, swung into action and released the trapped mother and daughter.
"They were rushed to Sheikh Khalifa specialty hospital in Umm Al Quwain for treatment and medical care."

"The public is urged to immediately report any such accidents to toll free numbers 999 or 997."

All drivers also need to observe traffic rules and regulations, the sources underlined. "Speeding is one of the main reasons for so many accidents here."

Recently, an Asian resident was severely injured in a collision involving two cars on the Emirates Road in Umm Al Quwain. Both the cars were damaged due to the impact of the smash-up.

Two people were also hurt in another accident on the Neefa Road a few days back in the emirate.

"The two cars, involved in the accident, caught fire due to the impact of the collision which was blamed on speeding and tailgating," the sources pointed out.
