Oman- Startup Grind hosts Hussam Hammo of Tamatem Games

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Startup Oman (www.startupoman.om), founded by Daud Foundation, the sultanate's only platform created by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs and the 'home of entrepreneurship' in Oman, hosted Startup Grind on Sunday.

Featured on Startup Grind's stage was Hussam Hammo, the founder and CEO of Tamatem, the leading mobile games publisher in the Arabic speaking market. Hammo graduated from Princess Sumaya University of Science & technology in 2006 and in 2007 received the Queen Rania Award for Entrepreneurship after founding Faye3.com, the first Arabic social network, which was acquired by Maktoob.com.

In 2013, Hammo founded Tamatem after returning from an acceleration programme at 500 Startups in Silicon Valley closing an investment of US$1.15mn from different investors in the US. Tamatem is currently the leading mobile games publisher in the MENA region, publishing more than 40 games on both Android and iOS, which have achieved more than 45mn downloads.

Over 40 entrepreneurs, students and young professionals joined the event at Innovation Factory space in Knowledge Oasis to hear Hammo's story to entrepreneurship. He said, 'The main reason behind my success is focusing on growth and revenue. We focused on generating profit and traction vs focusing on raising investment.'

He continued describing his biggest lessons from his journey being able to move on when Wizard Productions wasn't successful, instead of investing more time and money into it. He added, 'Additionally, my learnings include focusing on growth, as mentioned, and sharing with my peers. The more I shared with the other companies in the 500 startups programme about our business model and concepts, the more I learned from them.'

Startup Oman founder Ali Daud said, 'We are thrilled to feature an experienced entrepreneur such as Hammo on the Startup Grind stage. His experience highlights the importance of failure and persistence in solving a problem. We're pleased to have hosted a company working on creating content for the
Arabic market.'
