Kuwait- Arab League urges more cooperation to clamp down on crime


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Nov 28 (KUNA) -- An effective criminal justice system will prove instrumental in upping the fight against terrorism, the Arab League said on Tuesday.

Addressing the second meeting of an Arab committee tasked with tackling terrorism and crime, the Arab League's assistant secretary general for legal affairs Fadhel Jawad spoke of "an increase in crime in the Arab region." He stressed that the Arab League was eager to ensure that its member nations stave off the destructive effects of rampant crime and keep security intact.

The official revealed that the Arab League has joined forces with the UN on a number of programs designed to rid the world of social ills including crime and corruption. (end) mfm.nam
