Kuwait, Tunisia seek to coordinate social policies


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TUNIS, Nov 28 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh held talks with Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Al-Chahed and Minister of Employment and Vocational Training Fawzi bin Abdulrahman on Tuesday.

The talks dealt with cooperation in the areas of employment and ways to coordinate social policies of both countries, Minister Al-Sabeeh, also Minister of State for Economic Affairs, told KUNA and Kuwait TV.

She noted that her meeting with the Tunisian Premier took place on the fringes of the Arab ministerial conference on the integration of the social aspects of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development into the social policies of the Arab countries.

"The meeting reviewed the agenda topics of the ministerial conference, and the plans for social development and cooperation on the bilateral and multilateral levels," she revealed.

Regarding the outcomes of the conference, the minister noted that the conferees agreed to integrate the social policies of their countries into the economic ones.

The conference, which opened yesterday, highlighted the need to scale up the combat against corruption and end poverty and inequality in the Arab countries as per the provisions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, approved by the UN in late 2015, Al-Sabeeh went on.

On her meeting with Abdulrahman, Minister Al-Sabeeh said they discussed cooperation in vocational training and contract Tunisian professionals to work at the Kuwaiti public and private sectors.

She stressed the need to enhance cooperation between the two countries in this field through visit exchanges.

For his part, Minister Abdulrahman welcomed the visit of the Kuwaiti minister, expressing hope for closer cooperation between the two countries based on their exemplary historical relations.

The talks with Minister Al-Sabeeh will constitute a milestone in the cooperation between the two countries in the field of social development, he added. (end) ksj.gb
