Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), has released the seventh edition of its annual Career Guide magazine. QCDC has also launched the publication's new smartphone application, the first by a QF publication.
The 68-page bilingual magazine offers valuable career tips to guide Qatari youth into choosing the career path that aligns best with their skills and aspirations, as well as the future needs of Qatar's labor market.
The release of the magazine comes within the framework of QCDC's comprehensive efforts to guide and empower Qatari youth to take their future in their own hands, a right that Qatar has long guaranteed to enable its youth to contribute to the country's economic development. Abdulla Ahmed Al-Mansoori, Director, QCDC, said, 'Our country has always sought to secure a better and prosperous future for its youth in line with the vision of the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, by supporting scientific progress and innovation across all fields in the interest of the nation and its people. '
'We have adopted an approach based on three anchors of career guidance, comprising structured educational and training platforms, awareness and expertise exchange platforms, and knowledge creation and promotion platforms. The Career Guide offers an overview of the programs and services organized by QCDC throughout the year as well as the various activities aimed at engaging youth. The magazine also strives to promote a culture of career guidance among members of Qatar's society, Al-Mansoori added.
The magazine features reports on how to successfully spend the first day at work, the role of parents in their children's success, how to regain confidence after a failed job interview, and how individuals should manage their finances, among other useful topics.
The magazine also includes five interviews with Qatari professionals, who discuss their work experience and provide valuable advice to youth. Professionals featured in this issue include a dentist, inspector, researcher, artist, and programmer.
The latest issue of the Career Guide also includes a special feature on national service and its role in training human resources, as well as QCDC's role in preparing youth who have completed their national service to resume their professional career. QCDC is offering a series of workshops to help professionals resume work, particularly those who had a break for national service reasons, but also for other reasons such as educational, medical, or pregnancy.
