(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A 43-year-old worker, who allegedly sexually harassed a teen while she was strolling with her grandmother, stood trialon Tuesday.
The Pakistani man, who is in detention, was not present in the Court of First Instance, to enter a plea to a molestation charge.
A complaint was filed onOctober 17at Naif police station.
The 19-year Emirati student said the incident happened around12:15pm."I was taking a walk with my grandmother in Freej Al Murar area when a Pakistani man took me by surprise. He slapped me in an inappropriate way."
The student ran after him screaming for help, which prompted the passers-by to catch him.
The girl's 50-year-old Emirati grandmother gave a similar statement to interrogators.
"It happened that I was in the area when the incident occurred. There were people gathering as a man was harassing a young girl. That girl's grandmother was shouting for help. I caught the accused and took him into custody. He looked drunk," a police corporal said.
