Turkish army air raids PKK hideouts, killing 12 in Iraq, East of Turkey


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Nov 28 (KUNA) -- Turkish warplanes shelled the Mount Asos in the province of Sulaimani in early hours on Tuesday targeting Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

Turkish Army Chief of Staff said in a statement that four warplanes conducted airstrikes at 9 p.m. on Monday in the Mount Asos in the district.

Meanwhile, the Turkish army said in a separate statement that 12-armed men from PKK were killed in shelling and clashes wit armed men northeast of Iraq and east of Turkey.

The army noted that their air force conducted raids on the separates party in Zab and Metaina areas, killing eight armed men and the destruction of two caves.

The statement noted that Turkish security forces were able to eliminate four PKK fighters in clashes east of Turkey.

Turkey resumed the shelling of suspected PKK positions inside the Kurdistan Region in July 2015 after a two-year ceasefire between the Turkish military and the PKK ended. (end) rs.mb
