UN Security Council meets on Syria on eve of Geneva talks

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) New York, Nov 27 (Petra) –– United Nations envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura Monday briefed the Security Council on preparations to hold a new round of Syria peace talks in Geneva.

The envoy said in his address on closed circuit television that the Syrian opposition delegation will arrive in Geneva today, but added that the Syrian government had informed the UN that its negotiators were not able to arrive today.

He said the UN had served notice ahead of the talks that it would reject any preconditions by any party, and voiced hope for real negotiations tomorrow.
