China send Taiwan activist to prison for 'subversion state power'


(MENAFN) A Taiwanese activist has been charged for "subverting state power" and ruled to serve a sentence jail of five years by a Chinese court.

After his effort to encourage multi-party democracy using group texting chats, Lee Ming-che has been sent on trial in September.

Taiwan's attention has been drawn by the case that it demanded a secure return of Mr. Lee, relations with China have also tensed after the case. The sentence was criticized by the presidential office of Taiwan, declaring "we cannot accept this."
