Palestinian authorities in Gaza Strip close Beit Hanoun till further notice


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GAZA, March 26 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Security Authorities closed Beit Hanoun, (Erez) crossing between Gaza Strip and Israel on Sunday till a further notice.

The decision was announced by Hamas' Interior Ministry spokesman, Iyad Al-Bezem without elaboration.

Al-Bezem said the closure comes within measures taken by security authorities following the killing of former prisoner Mazen Fuqaha, a senior figure of Hamas' military wing, last Friday.

Al-Bezem added that all crossings would be closed till a further notice pending investigations into the death of Mazen Fuqaha, who was was gunned down by unknown assassins in Gaza on Friday evening. Fuqaha, a senior member of Hamas' Al-Qassam brigades, was reportedly shot four times in the head by unknown assassins in the Tel El-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City.

Hamas unilaterally imposed a full closure of the Gaza Strip after it accused Israel's Mossad of being behind the targeted killing of one of its military officials.(end).
