(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Preparing for the biggest sports event, Triathlon Middle East has announced the race track of Ironman 70.3 and the first ever Triathlon 5i50, which will take place in November.
The event was organised with the InterContinental Muscat, the official hotel of the Oman Ironman 70.3 2019.
The event started with an introduction to its first ever 5i50 triathlon's race track that starts from (The Race Village) from Jawharat al Shatti and Oasis Mall in Qurm.
Athletes will first begin the competition with a swim of 1.5km in the calm, clear waters of Muscat the iconic view of Shatti beach in Qurm.
Shatti is also the location of bike transition, from which athletes will take on a bike route passing major landmarks in Muscat including the Royal Opera House Muscat, Muttrah Gate and Cornish, the Al Bustan Palace and the Wadi Kabir Road.
The last part will be a run of 10km on a four-lap course passing by Shatti al Qurm, Royal Opera House Muscat and going back to the first lap in front of Jawharat al Shatti.
Race director and chief executive officer of Triathlon Middle East, Mohamed al Obaidani, said, 'The race track was chosen according to the international standards of Ironman Company, World Corporation and Global Triathlon in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The sultanate is rich with mesmerising tourist attractions and heritage that makes it the perfect destination for this kind of events.'
Obaidani added, 'Triathlon 5150 could be considered a training platform to Ironman 70.3 that will take place in March 2019. Registration for it is open for individuals and teams from Oman and abroad.'
In addition, Triathlon launched coffee boat activity that serves drinks for free at the race track to provide the best atmosphere for participants to relax while exercising before the competition.
Omran will be one of the sponsors of the championship through the InterContinental Muscat hotel and Crown Plaza Muscat - Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Triathlon Middle East organisation announced that the sultanate is hosting this event for the first time in its history and is ready to make it a great success.
