(MENAFN) On Sunday, Algeria condemned the terrorist attack that killed at least nine Tunisian security officers, and expressed its solidarity with Tunisian authorities in their fight against the scourge of terrorism.
"Algeria strongly condemns the terrorist attack that targeted Sunday a patrol of the Tunisian National Guard in the province of Jendouba," Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Abdelaziz Benali Cherif was quoted as saying by APS news agency.
He conveyed condolences to the families of the security officers, the Tunisian government and the Tunisian people.
"We express our full solidarity with Tunisia, and we remain convinced that the heinous and blind terrorism can never destabilize this brotherly country to combat and defeat this scourge," he concluded.
A patrol of the National Guard was ambushed in the northwestern Jendouba province near Algerian border on Sunday, according to Tunisia's Interior Ministry.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
