Lebanon urged to speed up gov't establishment to save economy

(MENAFN) Lebanon was advised by local analysts to accelerate the establishment of a new government to begin necessary reforms so as to save the Lebanese economy.

The statement has been made by Nassib Ghobril, chief economist and head of the Economic Research and Analysis Department at Byblos Bank, while speaking to Xinhua.

Ghobril said "the formation of a new government would send a signal to the international community that authorities in Lebanon are serious and eager to start structural reforms and benefit from international support."

Lebanon succeeded in holding the first parliamentary elections in nine years in early May, but it still faces various obstacles to the cabinet formation.
