Lebanon to have USD191m grant from EU


(MENAFN) The EU confirmed Lebanon to be receiving an unprecedented grant of about USD191 million after an approval from the European Union Regional Trust Fund.

Citing the EU, the National News Agency (NNA) reported "during the past few months, the EU and member countries reiterated their commitment to support Lebanon's stability, security and economic development."

The statement noted "this new package reflects EU's commitment in strengthening Lebanon's public education sector."

It said that the EU put in 100 million euros in the development of the public education sector and to ensure that all children can accept high standards of education.

It added "the EU works, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and all its schools, to ensure the sustainability of the public education sector."
