(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan are all set to take on India in the historic one-off maiden Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru today (Thursday).
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has already announced a spin-heavy squad for the debut Test. The squad includes five spinners.
Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Mujeebur Rahman, Zahir Khan and Hamza Hotak will lead the spin attack, Rashid and Mujeeb shone in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab.
While eyeing a fairy tale start to their Test journey, skipper Asghar Stanikzai said on the eve of the match that they were excited - not confused.
On the other hand, India will bank on experienced batsmen like Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Lokesh Rahul, Karun Nair and Dinesh Karthik.
On the bowling side, the hosts have some great spinners like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur are their main pacers.
In the last season, the Indians won all the last six Test series on their home ground.
For Afghanistan to make the event memorable, batsmen will have to demonstrate their prowess to support the bowling attack.
